On August 25, 2022, Justin Peck picked up the win at the Bridgeport Motorsports Park with the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions. What was just another race to most fans, was a very special night for the Buch Motorsports team. It was at Bridgeport in 2013 that Jason Leffler tragically lost his life in a racing accident while piloting the 13. The accident left a hole in the heart of the race team and made return visits difficult to the Kingdom of Speedway.
If that wasn’t enough, team crew chief, Sean Strausbaugh, and his wife, Skye, who sells the team merchandise, has their own history with the Speedway. Skye’s step father, Doug Hoffman, sits 2nd on the Bridgeport Modified win list with an impressive 92 victories and 3 Modified track titles as well as a Sportsman title on the “Big Ol’ 5/8” mile Speedway as Bridgeport was affectionately known prior to being downsized in 2020. If that isn’t enough, when Hoffman promoted Bridgeport in 2012, he turned to Skye and Sean to help at the Speedway.
When Justin crossed under Warren Alston’s double checkered flag, the fans were on their feet and cheering his incredible drive from his 10th place starting spot. It was a race that FloRacing would later name the race of the week. But for the team, it was a very emotional night. These new shirts celebrate the lives of Jason Leffler and Doug Hoffman, while celebrating the success of Justin and the Buch Motorsports team. These shirts will be for sale the whole weekend at Bridgeport from 10/28-10/30 or for pre-order at Buchmotorsportsstore.com
